Why Is Grounding Your Energy Important?

Grounding yourself is more important now than it has ever been. Grounding is not just about being present with your physical bodies. It is about anchoring more of your soul’s essence into the physical realm. It is the process that is underway, a process that will enable all of you to be more of who you are and to remain physically focused as you do.

After death, after finishing your lifetime's work, you leave your body and re-emerge back into the essence of who you are. Then, you begin a new cycle after remembering who you are. Now, in this lifetime, you get to do that while remaining physically focused and keeping your physical bodies. That is what makes this lifetime so special. You are remembering without the need for the death experience, and you are reconnecting with the essence of your being, without leaving the Earthly plane.

So the more that you are grounded in the physical, the more capable you are of receiving, of remembering and of reawakening within the structure of your physical form. This process can actually make being in your physical form more challenging.

Many of you are crying out in pain because the process is more challenging than you bargained for. But I am here to tell you that you can and will do it and that the experience of grounding more of your essence into the physical is the absolute best experience you can have.

One of the best things a person can do after giving or receiving energy work is ground. Grounding works similarly to grounding electricity through the grounding wire in electronics. It allows you to release any excess energy and emotions. Excess energy can often make you feel lethargic, sleepy, or drained. Many people assume they need more energy, when that’s not always the case. It can be a real challenge for us to stay grounded as we are constantly being bombarded with external emotions. Even if we stay home and don’t venture out, our empathic sense is often picking up so much pain and anguish from the outside world. This can mean we often feel ill, depressed, or exhausted. Simple grounding techniques can make a big difference in an person’s day. It can sometimes mean the difference between being able to cope, and feeling like you’re going insane.

How Do You Ground Your Energy?

With Food

Eating foods from the ground will help you ground internally in a very good way. What you eat is what you become. So, eating veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds will help you become the earth.

With Water

Wash your hands in really cold water.

Dissipate Energy

Get two dryer balls and handle them for a few minutes. The same way they dissipate static energy, they really help dissipate strong emotions picked up by empaths.

Use The Earth

Go outside, place your hands on the ground and visualize the energy flowing from your hands to the ground.

Visualize It

Visualize roots growing from your feet to the ground, and burrowing deep into the ground, the energy flowing from you to the earth.

With Hermatite

Wear hematite, which is good for grounding. When encountering intense energies, it tends to shatter or break (which is why an ordinary stone works).

With Your Words

You can simply state; “I ground any excess energy that does not serve my highest good” and picture the energy flowing through your body to the earth.

The Tree Technique

Imagine you are a tree and from your feet roots dive deep into the ground. Now picture your energetic body (aura) with your third eye (it doesn’t matter if you don’t really see a thing because the fifth chakra is closed, just picture it). Imagine or look for grey areas, which represent the unwanted energy. Now use intent to push that energy down your body toward your feet. Keep pushing through the roots until the energy gets lost deep in the ground. Now you can use the same exercise to replenish yourself: dress yourself up with strong branches full of leaves. Feel the sun over the leaves and feel how that energy flows through your body, invigorating you.

Play In The Earth

Play in the earth, plant something, or even just dig up some dirt and put it in a pot and play with it. I also have a basket of small river rocks at work that I play with when I need to ground. They’re beautiful to look at and feel WONDERFUL.

Be In Nature

Being outdoors in nature has a healing and uplifting effect on all. If you work in a city with no access to parkland, make sure you go out on weekends and get away from cars and air pollution. Walk barefoot on the grass, Earth, or on the sand at the beach.

Be With Cats

Also cats will ground you. Their chakras spin the opposite direction from us, giving them a natural grounding ability. Holding a cat or stroking it for a few moments will help to ground you.

Drink Enough Water

The body is made up of 75% water, so it will come as no surprise that this is way up there on the self-healing scale. Many of us are unaware of just how dehydrated we are. An insufficient supply of water creates problems with the functioning of our body, affects our well-being, appearance, and accelerates the aging process. Most of us should be drinking at least 8 glasses of pure water a day, just to replenish what our body loses naturally through sweating, urination, etc. The heavier we are, the more water we need.

Cleanse With Sea Salt

Not only is sea salt a great medicinal healer, it is deeply purifying. It has the power to draw out and dissolve negative energies from the emotional and physical body. The best way to cleanse yourself with salt (if you don’t live near the ocean) is by taking a salt bath. Immersing the body for at least 20 minutes in salt water will get rid of any negative emotions picked up during the day. For best results, add 1 to 2 cups of sea salt to a warm bath (along with your favorite essential oil or a crystal). If you don’t have time for a soak, a great alternative is scrubbing down with a salt scrub prior to showering. You can easily make a salt scrub from finely milled salt and oil. Your salt scrub will not only clear unwanted energies -- it will also leave your skin silky smooth and glowing.

Meditate

Meditation will help you deal with stressful situations and give you clearer insight. There are many forms of meditation out there; it’s just a case of finding what suits you. If you have never attempted it, here’s one to try: Sit in a comfortable position with your back straight, close your eyes and, breathing through your nose, focus on your breath. Inhale for 3 to 5 seconds and exhale for 3 to 5 seconds. On the inhale, feel your tummy expand and on the exhale, feel it deflate (Note: when you first try this, it is common to get dizzy or feel anxious). You will find, at first, your mind turns into a monkey and starts jumping all over the place from one thought to the next, but just keep coming back to your breath. Start with a few minutes and build it up to whatever suits you.

Change Your Thoughts

Many of us help create our life situations with the thoughts we keep. Dark, repetitive thoughts are especially powerful. From the second a negative thought pops into our head, we only have a matter of moments before its settles in and changes our mindset from positive to negative. Once this happens, one bad thought after another keeps rolling in. The best way to avoid it is not to indulge in them in the first place. When a dark thought pounces, change it, immediately, to a good one. It sounds simple, butit’s not. It is difficult, but we do have a choice when it comes to what we think (and feel). We can allow our thoughts to rule us or we can rule our thoughts. Change your thoughts; change your life!

Release With Exercise

Exercise can release pent-up emotions, remove impurities through sweat, enhance and uplift your mood, and energize you. Exercise is also a source of fun! Instead of referring to exercise as workout-time, we should call it playtime. When it comes to playtime, find an activity that you love. What did you love to do as a child? If you detested running and were no good at it, chances are it will probably be the same now. If you loved gymnastics, then yoga will definitely be a great one for you to try. If you don’t like rules, routines, or set times, then go freestyle. Make the rules yourself. Get the music cranked up and dance like nobody’s watching (which it’s probably best if no one is whilst throwing your shapes out). Dance, stretch, and jump your cares away and get a sweat on. All you need is 10 minutes a day. But, if you find an activity you love,

Love

The most important grounding tool we have is love. It makes the world go round. Doing what you love will uplift you more than anything else. Unfortunately, we are humans, having a human experience, in a human body. And love is one of the last emotions we tend to bathe ourselves in. If you bathe yourself and others in love, you will be very grounded.
